Author Emails, Programs, Tests, Cats, and Death

I swear every time I try to implement one of these things, the world is out to get me. And I'm not terribly upset about it; I often would rather spend my time doing something else, but then again, this is MUCH more productive than wasting away of FB. Which I have been known to do in the past. Which I, proudly so, don't much do anymore. That said, I mentioned priorities earlier this week. This week has been one that did NOT include writing. I despite not writing once I've begun the creative process but we've had two back-to-back weekends of snowfall, which for where I live in Virginia, is a reason to make life stop. The good thing about this week (other than the fact that I am exceedingly blessed with an amazing husband, a wonderful job, 5 amazingly sweet furbabies, and God continues to provide in all ways): I decided to email newer author James Islington about his Licanius Triology. AMAZING trilogy and you should DEFINITELY check it out if you like high/epic fantasy. W...

Processes and Priorities

I've been working on my epic fantasy series for nearly a decade now. Maybe it has actually been a decade by now... In any case, I wrote a hefty first draft that is -- needless to say -- exponentially different than this current draft. I daresay it is the last draft for the first book, unless an editor from a publisher tells me otherwise. For now, I'm onto book two. Well then. I am a personal trainer by trade. It's quite a blessing to be able to serve and help them. That said, when the pandemic hit, I had to RUN. I work as a contractor out of a local boutique gym, but I'm still my own boss, and as an entrepreneur, if you don't hit the ground running when some calamity like a pandemic happens, you're liable to go out of business. So while everyone else was complaining about being bor...

The Turning of a Page

Well hello there, reader. Or more like, absent reader. I bailed on this blog one year ago, when I promised I wouldn't. The reason I promised was that this blog is meant to invite people into getting to know me as an author, to hopefully build rapport (and yes, an audience) for my upcoming novel, the third in a series, which is not yet published. The GOOD (read: GREAT) new is that I have literally spent the entirety of 2021 editing, rewriting, editing, rewriting, beta reading, beta reading, and beta reading my first book. I am quite sure it's time to start pitching to agents and publishers. (Though, I admit; finding male fantasy beta readers is impossible. Goodness. I know the genre is full of readers, so where ARE you guys? Literally?) Firstly, for those very few who have been following this blog before I went AWOL, I apologize for my absence and will be doing better. Furthermore, I will not bore you with my methods. I am an AVID reader, and haven't read about one of my fa...
