About the Author

J. R. DuBois is a pseudonym for Jessica DuBois, a fantasy-fiction writer and author of the up-and-coming dark fantasy novel Conduit of Fire (copyrighted, but as-yet, unpublished).

With a degree in English Writing, Jessica explored many avenues where her degree would be utilized, but found that her heart merely wanted to write. Using her writing in other business capacities did nothing but dampen the joy she had for the passion God gave her.

Ironically, her profession is actually one of science (which she despised while in school). As a personal trainer, Jessica specializes in corrective exercise, creating hard and challenging workouts to empower her clients to achieve more than they thought possible, so they can "carpe diem," in whatever sense that means to them. She absolutely loves it.

On the creative side, Jessica devotes hours each week to her writing, improving her craft, learning new skills, and spreading joy.

Outside of writing, she is an extrovert who loves all things fitness, and spends much of her time cultivating her mind via books and podcasts, and studying how to be a better Christian and image Christ. She is often found with her loved ones, gallivanting around in nature, working out or doing something active, attempting (and often failing) some form of gardening, and cuddling her three cats.

Stories have enthralled Jessica since the moment she could hold a pen (she only wrote on the walls once!). It is utter joy to watch words come to life on a page, to experience the respite within the pages of a book, to see how the magic in a created world can, when read, become real. Stories and fiction broaden a mind without the need to experience situations first-hand, and can bridge gaps between peoples, notions, and geography that might otherwise be impassable. It is, in her mind, a truly magical thing -- a gift to be shared and celebrated.

Jessica enjoys all manner of writing, but her heart has always belonged in fantasy, where the magic on the page can become something real. She invites you into the process as she explores what it means to live, love, write, edit, and cultivate meaning in all aspects of life.
